Talk about two worlds crashing into one another!

new_york_spitzer_prostituteWhat do I mean? Well, if you were to cross HBO’s The Wire and their use of wire taps and New York ’service’, then you might get what popped up (no pun intended) in today’s New York Times. Just look at the photo of the woman in the photo on that page I just linked you to…not happy. Why? Keep reading…

Although what I’m about to say doesn’t have a great deal to do with service that you and I are likely in the market for, it certainly seems like some people are. And when I say some people, I’m talking about the top of the New York food chain, New York State Governor, Eliot Spitzer. I work in the financial industry and keep up with the press, the markets, and what have you. So I was shocked when I came across this headline today given all that Mr. Spitzer has done…we’re talking battling white collar crime in a BIG way.

If you want the whole story, check out the smoking gun (great photo, by the way), but if you want the microwave version, which I tend to appreciate from time-to-time, here it is:

  • Eliot Spitzer (aka the Sheriff on Wall Street for all the work he’s done for the financial markets; but in this story - Client-9…sounds like a Bond flick, I know)
  • High end prostitute ring (like $5,550 per hour in some cases…no joke)
  • Kristen (described as ‘petite, pretty brunette, 5-feet-5 inches, and 105 pounds’)

You do the rest.

All I know is that this is one way to bring an illustrious career to an abrupt close. As a non-resident, I don’t know how he is going to get out from under this (again, no pun intended) nor do I have any idea what the City will think going forward. From what I can tell from this coast, most aren’t too impressed , like oliver willis and some have mixed views, like the issue.

Although the service I received when I was in New York last month was good, in most instances, it certainly wasn’t good in a Client-9 kind of way.

What a mess.
