maid on the move

01Sep07

I can’t even begin to tell you how many desserts I missed as a kid because I didn’t clean up my room or put all my toys away.

Cut to today:duster.jpg

  • My ‘toys’ are a lot more complex (and usually don’t require putting away)
  • I still have a room (actually I have a few) to take care of
  • I have a dog (Gallagher) who doesn’t really care ’bout the whole ‘clean thing’
  • I struggle with finding the time to keep my place clean (not just ‘guy clean’)
  • Through some sniper-like craigslist.ca work earlier this year, I discovered the ultimate cleaning lady/person
  • I can have dessert whenever I want

Her name is Cheena.

Her company is called Maid on the Move (she even rides around on a scooter).

She’s made me one happy customer (in fact, two or three friends have hired her because she’s so damn good…and more have contacted me recently!)

Here’s what you need to know and why you need to know it:

  • She brings her own gear to your condo/flat/mansion/estate and uses all-natural cleaning products (if you have pets (check), children (no check), or are concerned about the health of yourself and the environment (check), this is good)
    • One of my favourite quotes from her original (and long-gone) craiglist posting: “Chemical cleaners can cause all sorts of adverse reactions, and with long term use and exposure, very real health problems can develop. With simple research on the Internet a plethora of horrors can be unveiled…”
  • She has a professional cleaning background with the Fairmont hotel chain (I have been a regular guest at a number of Fairmont properties across North America and trust me…she brings her A game; she even folds the toilet paper ends over like they do!)
  • She’s insanely detail-oriented person (in a non-crazy way) who takes great pride in making your place worthy of having a conceirge check you in when you get home
  • She’s been cleaning in Vancouver for almost two years and could easily be the best around
  • She charges $25/hour and requires a minimum two-hour booking (can also be scheduled for regular visits)
  • She’s does all kinds of work (businesses, apartments buildings, you name it)
  • She’s really tough to book - so if you get her, KEEP HER!
  • She’s reachable here:maidonthemove@gmail.com

So go on…get dirty…dessert’s waiting!
