Ok, I swear I’ll stop writing about coffee shops for a while, but I had to at least put paper to pen for this one.
Picture a typical Saturday afternoon in Kerrisdale. For those of you not familiar with it, imagine the Truman Show (read: how perfect everything is), and throw some mountains in and a little more coffee. And bang! You’ve got Kerrisdale.
So there I am…sitting reading the paper at Starbucks (after dropping my dog off with Dee at fetch) and in comes an older couple wanting a coffee. They actually came and sat down beside me by the fire and starting talking about how ‘he’ was a retired lawyer and how mad they were at TELUS over the service fees they’ve been charged.
Why? I think it was because I was on and off my Blackberry while they were sitting there so I suppose they made a reasonable assumption that I’d be interested in hearing about their problems. And, I was. What an interesting couple!
So, not much of a service story here, other than what I’ve already told you about TELUS (ack!). But I did realize something here that I wanted to share because I think it’s kinda cool.
What’s that? It’s actually quite simple in that if you stop to take the time to talk to people who you wouldn’t usually think of talking to in the everyday hustle n’ bustle of things…you might just be surprised what you find out!
Have a great weekend!
