You’d NEVER think it…in fact, you probably haven’t even seen it! BUT, if you’re lucky enough to have seen it, and even smarter to have already used it, you already get it.
Confused? Probably. If not, you’re probably good at Sudoku or something crazy like that…
Here’s the punch line: Kits Coin Laundry & Dry Cleaning
Here’s the set-up:
- Be in Vancouver (see map below)
- Have dirty laundry (literally)
- Go to the yellow shaded area (my ‘hood):

More specifically…go to the corner of Yew Street and York Avenue…you know, the one with the Rogers Video, Sunset Grill and grocery store(which is in my view, the best place to get fresh flowers this side of the equator and quite possibly, the universe).First, a little ’bout me (see here for even more)…. I often wear suits to work. As such, I have a lot of dress shirts, pants, jackets etc. that need to be ‘laundered’ (love that word…hope I spellled it rite). Enter this little family run business smack dab in the heart of Kits.
As I said before, you’d NEVER think it, but Kits Coin Laundry & Dry Cleaning (at 2208 York Avenue) is a party for your clothes…and you’re all invited!
I found these Doctors of Dry Cleaning by fluke when I first moved here in 2000 and decided to give them a try. The take-away from this little post: I think if I ever leave Vancouver, I’ll ship my clothes back to them to get them cleaned…they’re THAT good.
I’ll slam this all together now with WHAT you need to know and WHY you need to know it:
- they’re reasonbly priced;
- they’re good at what they do (wine stain removal included);
- they’re fast;
- they’re honest;
- they’re family run (big points as they’re all really nice people); and
- they’re make every effort to ensure you’re happy (including stringing your tennis rackets - how cool is that? bizarre…but cool, nonetheless).
I may not be the most frequent customer as I usually wait until I have somewhere in excess of 15 shirts ready-to-go before I come to see them. BUT, I’ve been a repeat client for almost 7 years for the reasons I’ve just mentioned (go ahead, ask the owners) and I’ve always been impressed by them.
After all, a happy client is one that comes back. And a client that comes back is the best kind, don’tcha think?
T&D Rating: 5 shirts (out of 5)
