I find the hunt for a good read can be as compelling as the book itself and Bibliophile Bookshop, located at 2010 Commercial Drive, is no exception.
This wee gem of a bookshop is the antithesis of Chapters/Borders/Amazon (of which I also spend far too much time in and online), providing a spectacular selection of tomes [...]

Today was a good day.
I played some tennis.
I got to chill out at Hollyburn on the top patio in the sun.
I rode my bike along the seawall.
I had lunch with a buddy at Yaletown Brew Pub (sorry, Kath…service was ON this time).
And we just got back from seeing Julie & Julia…nicely done, Sony Pictures; kinda [...]
I really want to LOVE this place, I really really do.
I love their selection of brews
They mix a good, strong cocktail
The menu never disappoints; I’m always able to find the right dish to satiate my particular cravings
The patio is prime for people watching and basking in the afternoon sun
The crowd is hip, hot, and pretty [...]
Recently, I told you my wardrobe’s secret weapon: Albert @ Albert’s Tailors.
Now, I’m going to go ‘The Full Monty’, and let you in on Albert’s cohort in my one-woman fashionista war: Irina Santos @ Cut 2 Fit Tailoring & Dry Cleaning. Located in the International Village Mall aka: Tinseltown Mall, this family run operation outshines [...]
I’m not going to yammer on about the food at Dae Bak Bon Ga (aka Korean BBQ joint)…no sir.
We didn’t come for it; by the smells that were wafting out of the restaurant, though, maybe we should have.
So on to my story.
We were celebrating a friend’s birthday. And, it never seems to get tired…it [...]
Don’t be fooled by the name, while concentrating on the sexual empowerment of women, Womyns’ Ware isn’t just for the ladies.
Boasting an incredibly massive assortment of sex toys, along with books on sexual health and wellness and novelty sex items, Womyns’ Ware Inc. is quite simply the most comprehensive sex store in the city.
I’ve had [...]
It was like any other Thursday…
The only difference was that:
1) our fridge was empty
2) neither of us felt like cooking (which would have necessitated filling said fridge – see #1 above)
3) Maenam, one of the newer kids on the block (West 4th) was beckoning (in Thai)
A few months back I had came across some great [...]

Mis Trucos is a modern Mediterranean tapas bar located at 1141 Davie Street (between Bute and Thurlow). You can’t really miss it, either as it’s set in a character house in the epi-centre of the Davie Street shopping area.
Chef Kris Barnholden (we [...]
I *heart* noodles. And ramen noodle soup is my comfort-food blankie:
When the weather turns cold and wet and I want to be warmed from the inside out.
When I’m starving hungry and feeling the need for a decent feed.
When I’m sick I crave that moreish miso-based broth filled with pieces of succulent pork and piled high [...]
All I wanted was some wine gums!
Alas…it wasn’t meant to be.
I’ll cut it to you quickly, for an upcoming event that I’m taking part in planning (smirk), I needed some candy:
1) in large quantities
2) from a very specific set of manufactuerers
3) STAT
After unsuccesful attemps at perusing Costco (tried both the Yaletown Costco and the ‘other [...]
