agro-cafeSo there I was, heading to a meeting with another blogger…late.

And that isn’t my style, believe me (apologies again, Rob).

To be honest, I was playing with my new iPhone trying to use the GPS/Google Map feature to find Agro Cafe.  Cool and really intuitive.

But appropriate to use when you’re 5 minutes from somewhere that’s 10 minutes away?

Nope.

When I arrived at Agro Cafe in Yaletown, and not their Granville Island location, I was blasted with warm air (it was ‘brisk’ out) and the aroma of freshly brewed small batches of coffee.  I had no idea they were part of the ‘clover‘ program…and that all of their beans are fair trade!

I had experienced that smell and familiar look at 49th parallel, and in Toronto at Manic Coffee, and am completely sold on the notion that it is capable of brewing probably the best cup of coffee there is.

So when Rob was kind enough to put an americano misto in front of me, Agro Cafe had my undivided attention.

At Agro Cafe, you’ve got a funky coffee joint that’s appropriately appointed and staffed with people, from what I could tell in the hour or so that I was there at least, who pay attention to detail.  I noticed customer appreciation cards, and people getting addressed by their first names when they walked in - something I think is lost in today’s hustle-n-flow type of world we’re in.

So, just like Key said back in 2005:

There are two types of people: those that talk the talk and those that walk the walk.

People who walk the walk sometimes talk the talk but most times they don’t talk at all, ’cause they walkin’.

Now, people who talk the talk, when it comes time for them to walk the walk, you know what they do? They talk people like me into walkin’ for them.

Agro Cafe definitely can walk the walk…and I’m more than happy to talk the talk about them…they deserve it.

Agro Café is one of my neighbourhood stops. I believe they’re the only Clover in the vicinity - dropped JJ Bean once I discovered Agro.

Their customer service is amazing. Matti has been my main go-to person. He took the time to educate me about coffee when I got into it last year and even let me churn out posts for a few hours during my 24-hour blog-a-thon last summer.

Glad that you had the chance to check them out.

I work in Yaletown and I totally agree with Karen, their service is awesome. Helps when you are serving Clover coffee as well. Never met Matti.
