BumberWHAT?

We’re only a few sleeps away from Bumbershoot 2007. Umm….pardon?
WHAT IT IS: North America’s largest urban arts festival in its 37th year of existence. It’s also a metaphor for the festival being an ‘umbrella’ for all of the various arts and performers it features (WHOEVER thought that up would probably kick some a$$ at Balderdash…)
WHERE IT IS: Right in the flux capacitor of downtown Seattle - the 74-acre Seattle Center
WHEN IT IS: Labour (yup, that’a Canadian spelling) Day weekend - September 1-3rd, 2007
WHO CARES?: Over 150,000 people usually seem to
WHAT’S THE DEAL?: The festival lineup is absolutely epic and could quite literally have appeal to anyone on the planet who enjoys music, film, art, books and more. Don’t believe me?
For those of you who are planning to go (I believe there are still deals on 3-day weekend passes available), be sure to check out one of my personal favorites Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
at the Samsung Theatre on Sunday the 2nd.
They’re just on the heels of a massive tour of their latest album (Baby 81)…a HUGE album for them, in my mind.
I managed to catch them on their last trip through Vancouver in May 2007 - for those of you who were there, you know what kind of energy these guys bring to the stage. That said, I think you’d be missing out if you took a pass on BRMC at Bumbershoot.
SO…if you find yourself in Seahawk town, I think others to put on your dance card would include: The Shins, Tokyo Police Club, Art Brut, Wu Tang Clan, +44, and for those fans of the ’80s, Crowded House.
I think 4 out of 5 dentists would probably agree with me too…
T&D Rating: 5 flux capacitors (out of 5)
