If you’ve been victim to the ‘Blackberry Prayer’, I hope you’ll appreciate what I’m about to say.
As a former Blackberry Curve adict (read: slave), I will be the first to admit that I was a bit slow out-of-the-gates when it came to this little wireless box of techno joy, but that was only due to some aggressive dodging and weaving. Cut to today (read: iPhone ‘haver’ and ‘not-going-to-change-back’er’)…
So, let’s get right to the heart of this thing shall we? Blackberry…how do you run this bad boy on all cylinders to maximize your effectiveness and minimize your prayer time?
I’ll break it down into three sections to make it easier to digest:
1. How to ‘pray’ more effectively
Thanks to dotconnector, why don’t you try on a handful of Blackberry Tips for size? As a ‘Curve’ (and potentially Bold/Storm) owner, in Canada of course, you may appreciate those tips; when I was on the bberry program, I can honestly admit that I was a big fan of #5! I can’t even begin to remember how many times I dealt with the ‘airport situation’. Nicely done.
My personal favourites, which weren’t on the list, are still: holding down the “1″ button to speedial voicemail (came with the phone when I bought it), and programming any letter to correspond to a speed dial for the contact of your choice.
The GPS function offered on the Curve (and Bold/Storm?) is also really slick and brings me great joy when I think back to the point where I kaiboshed the option when I bought my new car. Talk about a money grab…yikes!
2. Learn, baby, learn!
If you happen to be the type of person who likes a little bit more one-on-one attention, why not fire on down to Farmington Hills, Michigan and pop into the first-ever Blackberry store (opened almost two years ago now). I think rimarkable had a great point about its longevity, though. Why go all the way down to a store when you can get tips from posts like this? To each their own…whatever works.
3. Just plain nerdy
The Tong blog also had some great suggestions about where to go to trick out your little time-eating tool of terror with Blackberry games (read: airport/cab ride time killers); Tetris, for sure…Curling Challenge? I think I’ll pass.
Being a bit of a tech person, and a mac user, I debated the iphone/Blackberry thing to death when it first came out (read: that soon changed). For work purposes, the Blackberry won out. Throw in the Google phone into the mix and those lines seem to have been blurred once again!
Technology bytes.
