What’s in a name?
Letters.
If you make that name Daniel, however, and you happen to find it attached to someone working at Kiehl’s on Robson in Vancouver, you want to know what else is in it? Great service!
I’m not going to go into what Kiehl’s sells, let’s just say it’s a fancy soap shoppe (I added the extra ‘pe’ – makes it more fancy). What’s better, it also has products for men! Now, I’m not going to lie to you, it’s not the cheapest place to buy your shaving cream, and moisturizer, etc, but it lasts forever, plus a couple of days…and damn! it smells good (lots on smells on Robson, it seems, like this place). All this talk of smells kind of reminds me of when I had a lot of them all in one place as a kid. But that was then…
…and this is now, so let me get to the good stuff! I’m talking ol’ school service here. I’ve been a customer of Kiehl’s on Robson for a number of years now. And I’ve always been impressed with the amount and quality of service I’ve received. But when ‘Daniel’ (remember the letters/name sentence) through me back to the 80’s with an actual HANDWRITTEN THANK-YOU CARD for my business, I was…at a loss for words.
So I’ll let his words do the talking (see below):

I’m impressed.
And I’m talking first time I heard Huey Lewis and the News’ Power of Love impressed.
Thank you, Daniel, and thank you Kiehl’s.
You’ve taken a classic approach to something that can easily get forgotten in today’s “2.0″ world we live in – personally (not electronically) thanking the people that mean something to you (your customers).
