Grabbing a business lunch can sometimes be a bit of a chore as it can really test the human condition and/or the theory of mean reversion (for all you stats fans).
I’ve rounded up a few places over-the-years that I quite enjoy (and yes, I migrate to them quite often). In fact, we even started ‘a list’ of non-fine dining places you could probably throw against the lunch fridge, and some may even stick! (please…add some of your own!)
So when we decided to take a jaunt down Main Street to grab some grub, we stopped the car at #4598 (the South East corner of 30th Avenue) and opened up a tickle trunk of pho at Pho Tan Vietnamese Restaurant.
We’ve been to Pho Tan before, but wanted to take a moment to let you drink in the vibe. Like the picture we painted with Indian Oven a few months ago, it’s nothing fancy. That clearly doesn’t matter here as the place was packed (like Ben and Suanne, we waited about 10 minutes for our table - they actually told us ’seven minutes’; I like precision).
Aside from the typical menu items that you’d expect (our favourite are the ‘bun’ options), is smiling service and a ‘homey’ feel to it. Despite the madness flying all about, and believe me, there is a good deal of it here when things are hopping, Pho Tan deserves high ‘praize’ when it comes to keeping it cool under pressure.
So, wrapping this thing…
1) afforadable pho
2) un-pretentious decor
3) quick n’ easy
4) a likely ‘7 minute’ wait
