I’ve come across a number of new bands lately and I really have to hand it to those in the music business who are taking a different tact when it comes to getting their material out into the ether!

Be it free videos on YouTube that make you really stop n think (I’ve talked about two of them here and here), original ideas for promotion, and/or thinking outside of the box and striking a chord with viewers with something completely unique. That’s where Royskopp comes in.

If you’ve heard of Royskopp…that’s good.

If you haven’t, that’s still good. But read this: they’re a really talented eletronic-based Norwegian duo that came onto the scene in 1998 and released their first track, Remind Me (the topic of this post) in 2001.

So what? I’m getting to that…

What’s the deal?
An original animated music video (we’re talking the same kind of impact that A-Ha had on the scene in the ’80s with Take on Me…remember that?)

Who did it?
It was directed by the French motion graphics studio H5.

What’s the deal (revisited)?
It features a day in the life of a woman working in London’s Square Mile solely through infographics; this includes labelled close-ups of everyday objects, product lifecycles, schematic diagrams, charts, and is generally illustrated in a simple isometric visual style (Read more on their wiki site if you’re interested).

Who cares?
The American media seems to care as Sephora and GEICO have picked it up and used it in their advertising campaigns! Umm….that’s gotta be nice for record sales, don’tcha think?

So where is it?
Here. (ps – watch the whole thing and let me know what you think…I was blown away)

My point to this post…keep your delivery fresh and original and others will take note…regardless of the industry, business, or whatever you’re into.

I’m looking forward to seeing Royskopp next time they’re back in town!
