With the economy in the red and my wallet screaming for mercy, I have had to cut back on previous delivery and take-out luxuries.

Fortunately, with the help of a very informative friend, I was able to find a substitute for my beloved addiction to delicious pad Thai.

Thai Away Home at 1206 Davie Street is a tiny, cozy, take-away and eat-in restaurant with some of the tastiest Thai cuisine available in Vancouver.  With a plethora of accolades from various Vancouver publications, its  a wonder I hadn’t been here before.

The cuisine is made with all natural, fresh and preservative-free ingredients and the results prove a quality product is being made here.  After waiting in line for a negligible amount of time, we sat for maybe 10 minutes until our food arrived on a massive plate, served with much enthusiasm by the lovely staff.  The sheer volume of food to price ratio is incredible.  For under $10.00, a person can have more than enough food for a couple of servings or at least, a couple of meals.

Considering the constant stream of people pouring into Thai Away Home, I was expecting the service to be slightly lagging (numerous past experiences at similar establishments have not boded well with me), but after surveying the other diners in the restaurant, I was absolutely impressed that everyone had received their meals in due time and with no complaints.

Thai Away Home not only offers prepared take-away and dine-in meals, but they also have refrigerated, take-home meals that you can prepare in the comfort of your own kitchen (much like Rangoli does both at the restaurant and at Urban Fare).
