the-locus-main-vancouverGiven the range of culinary options in Vancouver, it’s hard to choose just one. It’s harder, even, to make this decision in the early Sunday morn, in a heady post-Saturday night haze. And this, my friends, is why Locus has become my brunch place of choice.

The long queue of hipsters is discouraging, but Locus is well worth the wait. Hidden within this dark enclave is an extensive list of omelettes, scramblers and bennies to uplift the sleepy soul. Images of lightly toasted English muffins and poached eggs sitting in a pool of rich hollandaise sauce make it difficult for me to order anything other than their tomato basil benny; but the menu is varied, offering anything from granola, fruit, and yogurt and egg white omelettes to heavier fare like steak and eggs

The service is generally quite good, with the owner often welcoming patrons himself (my mom always get a kick out of when he refers to us as “girls” as he leads us to our table, giggling quietly to herself). Wait time, naturally, is contingent on how the number of diners though it generally isn’t very long. Locus gets pretty busy on Sundays but the staff tries their best and is quite attentive.

The Locus is at 4121 Main Street or vist them online at www.locusonmain.com.
