Punch line:

Toshi Sushi is worth the wait.

The reasons why:

First off, and I’ll be honest with you, Toshi Sushi doesn’t really look like the kind of [sushi] place you’d want to frequent. At least, from the outside it doesn’t.

But once you peel back the layers, and sort you way through the line-up, like a kid running through a corn maze, your eyes will do the rest of the reasoning for you.

First off, the place is buzzing (like a bee flying after the kid in the corn maze) and that should immediately tell you something.  It did for me (similes aside).

As far as the food is concerned, Quentin over at Beyond Robson did a great job, we think, of outlining the dishes. And I do agree with him, the Tuna Tataki and the candied eggplant need to be dialed-in to your sushi rotation once you sit yourself down at Toshi.

[insert time to eat the food/enjoy the company you're with here...]

The Wrap-Up:

So, I won’t lie to you, we did have to wait for an extended period of time to get a table at Toshi Sushi.

But once we did, the service was attentive, clean and crisp, fast (they kind of have to be), and pleasant (read: opposite of this place).  And…the food kicked some chopstick.

With an experience like that, it certainly took the pain away from waiting in line for so long.  And, it made me realize that when my Grandfather used to tell me to never to judge a book by its cover, he was right.
