I’m not going to lie to you…the phrase ‘cheeseburger slider’ at first made me want to get some fresh air and collect my thoughts
But after I realized what the heck this menu item at Joey’s [or is it Joey Tomatos, I have no idea anymore…so many names, so little time] was, I was hooked.
Aside: Excuse the floodlight-like-flashbulb-look…blackberry’s are great and all, but sometimes the photos need some work.
In fact, I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the dishes I’ve ordered at Joey’s on West Broadway (or at the shiny, new Joey’s on Burrard, near Robson Street, in downtown Vancouver).
So…I guess you know where I’m going with this, huh?
Pretty much.
Just look at the design of the flippin’ foyer…you KNOW it’s gotta be good right? All kidding aside…it is.

Whether it’s been to reconnect with Facebook friends I haven’t seen since I learned to moonwalk, get a group of my friends out to watch the game, to enjoy dinner in the dining room, or as step one of a well-planned out weekend outing (aren’t they all, though, I mean, c’mon…), Joey’s staff have always made me proud to have recommended it be the staging area of choice (or final destination, as the case may be).
Let’s just throw back the clocks for a minute and recount my most recent experiecne at Joey’s (the West Broadway location) to frame this thing for you. Once again, I felt like Ray Liotta when the hostess made an executive decision in the midst of a crowded restaurant (we’re talking Borat movie premiere kind of crowded) and arranged (and walked us straight to) a spot right at the bar.
The highlight of this parade of pleasure: 1) the perch was in clear view of the game; 2) we had full access to the entire menu; 3) we could easily hasten any of the servers within mere seconds; and 4) we were positioned dangerously close to the taps (not like The Charlatan, mind you, but let’s just say, we could almost smell the brass).
The decor, the warmth, the overall puff daddy hip factor of the whole thing has branded a mark on the former footprint of the Kits Pub (may it rest in peace) forever that has definitely got this customer on a string.
Nice work, Joey (and everyone else who works there).
